Dr. William Harris at Vegetarian Society Potluck
We are honored to be hosting William Harris, M.D. at our next vegan potluck sponsored by the Vegetarian Society of Hawaii. Dr. Harris will discuss the raw food diet. He will explain the virtues of raw nuts, seeds, and avocados as components of an optimally healthy raw vegan diet based on fruits and vegetables.
A vegan for more than 40 years, and author of The Scientific Basis of Vegetarianism, Dr. Harris is a founding and current director of the Vegetarian Society of Hawaii. Prior to his retirement he was an emergency physician and the director of the Kaiser Permanente Vegetarian Lifestyle Clinic.
Retirement has allowed Dr. Harris to maintain and even increase his physical activity. He swims and does other aerobic exercise daily and continues to hone his trampoline skills. He’s been an active pilot for many years and a skydiver with more than 800 jumps.
This is a not-to-be-missed event featuring one of the pioneers of the Vegan movement in the USA.
The Vegetarian Society of Hawaii is a not-for-profit volunteer organization founded in 1990 to promote human health, animal rights, and protection of the environment by means of vegetarian education.
